50. How Will You Use Yours?
I started using my greenhouse because I needed something to occupy my time, and for my love of gardening. Being a Moose, there was little to eat during the winter months that I really enjoyed so you could say that one of my other main reasons for getting my greenhouse was because I enjoy fresh vegetation and plants so much! Have you given much thought about what you are going to grow in your greenhouse? Are you looking for some new ideas that you can work up in your greenhouse? Try these ideas on for size.
Just for one season grow all bulbs in the greenhouse! After the initial planting, you can sit back and just enjoy! As the bulbs begin to grow and bloom you feel overwhelmed with the ease of using bulbs in the greenhouse. The fabulous flow of colors through out the greenhouse is great. When your bulb season is finally over you can cut them back and dry them out to start again in the spring!
Just for one season try growing all flowers. See if you can resist the temptation to grow any type of vegetable. It is hard to do, but in the end you can share with your friends. When you have a greenhouse full of flowers and your share with your friends, neighbors and relatives you spread smiles on the faces of everyone, plus you get bragging rights on your accomplishments!
This idea might take a few seasons to see the results but, take your favorite green vine and create about fifteen to twenty starts from it. Of course this takes a while when you are waiting for roots, and then a little extra care when you are finally potting them but seeing the results of how much you can create from just one plant is well worth the wait. You can share these vines with older friends or relatives that you know that love plants, but never could spare the price to buy one as wonderful as you created.
One last thought, try one winter season just growing vegetables. Even if you donít like vegetables, use your talents to grow vegetables and learn a little more about how plants can thrive in your controlled environment. When you are reaping the rewards of your special project, you can donate all the goods to the local food pantry. While you have learned more about gardening in the greenhouse, what the vegetables need to survive and how the environment affects plants you are helping a local family.
